Come celebrate Summertime with Topflight Stamps! I’ve teamed up with some great designers to showcase summer cards using the unique products available at Topflight Stamps. Please hop along with us for a chance to win! You should have arrived here from the (Connie Mercer)’s blog. If not, no worries, catch the details below. So let’s get started!

I had so much fun creating a mixed media vibe card and love these awesome stamp sets which are all available at TopFlight Stamps! I used 3 stamp sets in today’s card: Dark Room Door – Patchwork Butterfly, AALL & Create #399 Framework Elements, and AALL & Create #307 Overlapping Texture!
I started by creating the background on Canson watercolor card stock. I trimmed the panel to an A2 card base. I chose the follow Distress Ink Colors: Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, and Spiced Marmalade. I placed a small amount of ink directly from the pad to my glass mat, then spritzed water. I then placed the paper into the ink. I completed this several times until my paper was covered in ink. I love the ink smooshing” technique. I set the panel aside to dry.

After the background panel was dry, I added several stamped images from the AALL & Create stamp sets. I stamped these directly to the background panel using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I gave the panel time to dry and worked on my butterfly image. I stamped the Darkroom Door Butterfly stamp onto Hot Press paper and stamped it using my WOW embossing ink pad. I then used WOW Decadent Ruby Embossing Powder to heat set the butterfly! I love the specks of ruby red in the powder. I then colored the butterfly using my Karin brush markers. I then cut out the butterfly using my scan and cut.
I wanted to add a bit more interest and texture to the background panel. I used the Tim Holtz Burlap Stencil with crackle paste in various sections of the background. I love the added texture. I also added Distress Oxide Sprays to the background: Tumbled Glass, Spiced Marmalade, and Picked Raspberry. Once the background was dry, I used metallic watercolors to add extra sparkle to the background.
I then die cut the background panel and adhered this to a black die cut rectangle and adhered this to an A2 card base. I added a sentiment and my card was complete!
