Hey Crafty friends! I am super excited to join Simon Says Stamp today to celebrate their new release – To Be Loved! Today is day 1 of a 2 day Blog Hop, so be sure to stop in to see all the AMAZING inspiration! I am sharing all the blog hop details and information below! So let’s get started!
Today I am sharing 2 new products with you from the To Be Loved release, I am using the Pixie Dust and I’m Sorry Sentiments. I fell in love with this gorgeous floral and couldn’t wait to watercolor this set. This set has me dreaming of a warm spring day, how about you?
I started by stamping the large floral from the Pixie Dust set onto Canson XL watercolor card stock. Prior to stamping, I prepped the surface with my anti-static powder tool, then stamped the image using Versafine Clair Nocture Ink. I then heat set the image using clear embossing powder.
Next I watercolored the floral using my watercolors. I work in layers, going from lightest to darkest. I ensure each layer is dry before adding the next color. I continued this process until I have the depth of color I was looking for. I watercolored the flower, as well as the background around the flower image. Once the watercolor was completely dry, I die cut the panel using the Studio Light – Grunge – Slimline Filmstrip die set. I also die cut a piece of pattern paper using the larger die in this set.
Next I inked the edges of the filmstrip pattern paper using Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I applied the ink with a mini blending tool. Next I added some more texture to my card panel using the Simon Says Stamp Old Letter background stamp, as well as the Field Notes set from Tim Holtz. Once the background was complete, I added white splatters. I completed the card by adhering the layers together and adding a sentiment from the I’m Sorry Sentiments set. I distressed the edges using my distress tool, as well as applied distress ink for a vintage feel.
I had so much fun using these sets! There are so many amazing possibilities with this new collection!
