Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be back today joining the team over at Simon Says Stamp for their Monday Challenge! This week the theme is Summer Mood Board and today we are featuring Brutus Monroe. Be sure to check out the awesome mood board as well. There are so many ideas here to help get you in the mood for summer and to get creative! I started by choosing my Brutus Monroe product for today’s project and then continued from there. Today I am using the Flowering Vine Stencil from Brutus Monroe. I love the flowers and the leaves in this stencil and the open space! Flowers are so beautiful and truly one of my other past times of summer, I love to garden! So let’s get started!
I started with a piece of Canson Mixed Media paper, Color Burst Powders, and the Dots on Dots stencil from Simon Says Stamp. I placed the water color paper on my glass surface, laid the dots on dots stencil on top, then added 3 colors of Color Burst Powders on top of the stencil. Today I used: Peony, Lemon Yellow, and Marigold. I added a little of each color and then spritzed the powders with water. I then carefully removed the stencil and placed it on top of another piece of mixed media paper. This gives me another background for a later time.
I allowed the panel to dry and once it was dry, I added the Flowering Vine stencil on top with crackle paste. I allowed the paste to dry, then added more texture to the paste by applying Distress Crayon in various parts of the flowers and leaves. I used Picked Raspberry and Crooked Broomstick. I apply a small amount of color directly on top of the dried paste. Then add a little water and move it around with my finger. I continue the process until I have the texture I am looking for. I also applied Picket Fence Paper Glaze in the color Spanish Olive.
Next I added a bit of stamping to the background in various spots. I used 2 sets from Stampers Anonymous: Ledger Script and Field Notes. I stamped in various places using archival ink in Jet Black. Once my stamping was done, I trimmed my card panel using my deckle edge trimmer. I then distressed the edges a bit more with my distress tool and distress ink. I saved the card panel edges (for a later part as well). I also added splatters to my card background.
Next I die cut the Etched Flower Buds 3 times using white card stock. I adhered them together using my SSS Glue stick. I then started to work on the arrangement of the flower, extra card strip panel, cheese cloth, and sentiment. Once I was happy with the placement of everything, I adhered all the elements to the card front panel using liquid glue and foam tape. This completes my first project for this month’s Monday Challenge! I can’t wait to see your makes! I will be back next Monday with more inspiration!
Thank you so much to the Simon Says Stamp team for having me guest this month on the Monday Challenge blog! I am super excited to be here and for this month’s amazing theme’s and projects!
