Hello Crafty friends! I am so EXCITED to celebrate STAMPtember with Simon Says Stamp! It is such an EXCITING month ahead and so many wonderful new products coming all month long! Today is the first part of the celebration with the new Simon Says Stamp release and it is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! You can click here to see the new Simon release! For my first project I am using one of the new background stamps – Candles! It is an AWESOME stamp and I had a lot of fun creating these tags! So let’s get started!
When I first saw the Candles background stamp I knew I wanted to create some fun and colorful tags for gifts! This background stamp is perfect for this and these were super fun and easy to create! I started by creating my backgrounds. Today I am using my Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays. I have listed the colors below for you. I started with a piece of Neenah 80 lb. card stock and I started by spraying the paper. I used various colors and added layers of Acrylic Sprays. I worked in sections with the sprays and once I was happy, I allowed them to completely dry.
Once the backgrounds were dry, I die cut them using my Tim Holtz/Sizzix tag dies (2nd largest die). Next I inked up the Candles stamp using Archival Ink. I stamped the background candles onto both tags. Next I used the left over backgrounds to die cut hearts. I used 2 dies: Geometric Builder Heart and Stacked Hearts die. I die cut a bunch of hearts using these dies in various sizes. I inked up all the edges of the hearts using Distress Ink.
Next I added splatters to both of the tags using a white acrylic paint and gold metallic splatters. I allowed these to dry and worked on my sentiments. The sentiments I chose for my tags are from the Simon Says Stamp: Window Box Blooms. I stamped the sentiments using Versafine Clair ink and then heat set them using clear embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiments down and added the new Simon Says Foam tape to the back of each sentiment strip. I also added some to the hearts for added dimension as well. I set these aside.
Next I added a bit of distress ink to the edge of each tag. I also applied a bit of embossing glaze to various edges on my tags. I love the added texture this provides! To complete my tags I adhered the hearts and sentiments using both foam tape and liquid adhesive. I also added a bit of cheese cloth to the tags for added texture. I colored the cheesecloth using my Lindy’s Gang sprays.
I had so much fun creating these tags! This is such a fun stamp and can be used in so many ways! I will be back soon with more crafty inspiration using STAMPtember goodies!
