Hi Crafty friends! Welcome back – I am excited to be back today to share some holiday tags using the new Pine Landscape Cut and Emboss Folder from Simon Says Stamp latest release: Holiday Sparkle! Be sure to come join us over on Instagram where there is beautiful inspiration and of course prizes! I will see you there! So let’s get started!
I started my holiday tags with a piece of Canson XL watercolor card stock. I sprayed the panel with Winter Frost Distress Mica Satin. Once the panel was dry, I ran the panel through my die cutting machine with the Pine Landscape Cut and Emboss Folder. I then used the die included in this folder set and die cut the trees, then placed the tress back inside my folder one more time for added dimension using my die cutting machine. I then added a bit of distress crayons to various parts of the pine trees and then splattered the trees with gold paint, then set them aside to dry.
Next I chose pattern paper from my stash, this is from Tim Holtzs’ holiday collection from last year. I then placed the pattern paper on top of my pre-made tags. These tags were a part of a previous card kit. I glued the paper down onto the tag and cut off the excess paper with my scissors. Next I chose coordinating papers and ephemera from my stash and added layers onto each tag. I encourage you to look through your stash to see what you have!
I adhered the papers and ephemera to my tags using liquid glue. I do always add a bit of distressing to the ephemera using distress inks. To add more interest to my tags, I cut strips of coordinating paper and used the Scallop Border die to add more interest to the strip of paper. I then distressed the edges and adhered this to the tags (one on the bottom, the other on the side).
I then die cut a few snowflakes using the extra of my distress mica panel from my pine tress. I distressed the edges of each snowflake then adhered these to the tags as well.
I completed each tag with burlap twine at the top. I had a lot of fun with these! Embossing folders are so versatile and add so much interest to cards, tags, and even journals! I hope today’s project inspired you to try something new with your folders!
