Architecture & Buildings| Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be back today joining the team over at Simon Says Stamp for their Monday Challenge! This week the theme is Architecture and Buildings! I apologize I am a couple days late to share my card for this week’s challenge as a guest designer (I was out of town traveling). I am excited for this week’s challenge! So let’s get started!
I was very excited about this week’s theme and used the Cobblestone 2 embossing folder for my architecture theme for this week. I dry embossed the background using a background from my stash! I love having pre-made backgrounds on hand and being able to use them for card backgrounds! Once the panel was dry embossed I added more color and texture using distress crayons and Picket Fence Glaze. Once the panel was completely dry, I trimmed the panel down using my Tim Holtz Deckle trimmer. I inked up the edges using distress ink and set it aside.
Next I created the layers for my card front using the Mushroom Stems die and Tim Holtz Idea-Ology. I LOVE the mushroom die and had created these mushrooms a little while back when I was working on another project. I saved them for a future project! I was excited to use them today and they were the perfect pop of color on top of the green/brown background. I created the mushrooms tops a while back using background scraps from my stash. The stems were die cut using kraft card stock and then inked with oxide ink, and spritzed with water droplets for added texture. I also added white splatters for my mushrooms as well for added texture. I encourage you to make multiple die cuts of sets you love, it truly saves time on future projects.
Once I had my mushrooms, I looked through my stash of ephemera and chose the elements for my card. I did add distressing to the pieces as well using my deckle trimmer and distress inks. Once I had all the elements, I adhered all the card layers together using foam tape and liquid glue.
I completed my card with some moss and a sentiment strip from the Small Talk sticker book. I had so much fun creating this card!!!!! I hope you like it too!
Thank you so much to the Simon Says Stamp team for having me guest this month on the Monday Challenge blog! I am super excited to be here and for this month’s amazing theme’s and projects!

We Can See Clearly | Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be back today joining the team over at Simon Says Stamp for their Monday Challenge! This week the theme is We Can See Clearly! I was so excited for this theme as I recently purchased some new Idea-Ology and it was perfect for this week’s theme! So let’s get started!
I started by creating my background using a piece of pattern paper from a Tim Holtz paper pad collection. I trimmed my panel and adhered the pattern paper to a piece of heavy weight white card stock using liquid glue. I then applied a thin layer of white gesso to various parts of the panel using a paint brush. I did not cover the panel, just applied this to random places to add texture and to break up the pattern paper a bit. Once dry, I placed the Tim Holtz layering stencil/ Brush Arch over the top and applied texture paste through the stencil in a few spots. I allowed the paste to dry completely before moving on.
Once the paste was completely dry, I applied Distress Crayons to the raised areas where my paste is. I continued to add color and texture until I had the layers I was looking for. I set the panel aside to completely dry. Once dry, I applied Picket Fence Paper glaze in a few sections for added shine, as well as a few splatters using white acrylic paint, as well as brown watercolor.
Next I chose the pieces of ephemera I wanted to add to my piece. I chose a couple transparent pieces for this week’s theme, as well as a few others from my stash. The transparent pieces are from: Transparent Things 2 and Transparent Layers. I continued to add layers until I had the pieces I was looking for. On the side of the panel I adhered a strip from the Idea-Ology collection: Collage Strips. Once I had all these elements and determined the placement, I adhered them to my panel using liquid glue. I also added a piece of cheese cloth to a section under the ephemera.
Next I chose the butterfly die cut as my focal image above the transparent circle. I found a pre-made background in my stash and used the Sizzix 3D Butterfly Impresslits to cut out and dry emboss the butterfly. Once die cut, I added some distress crayons and glaze to the top of the butterfly for added texture and shine. I applied both of these mediums with my finger.
I then adhered my butterfly on the tag and chose sentiment from the Small Talk set, then adhered this to my project as well. I had so much fun creating today’s tag for this week’s theme! I hope you enjoyed it! I will be back next week too! Have a great week and I can’t wait to see what you create!
Thank you so much to the Simon Says Stamp team for having me guest this month on the Monday Challenge blog! I am super excited to be here and for this month’s amazing theme’s and projects!
