Hello Crafty friends I am so excited to join Hero Arts this month for their new Hero Studio release and Extras! There is truly something for everyone! I will be sharing all the details below about each of the new subscriptions, as well as the EXTRAS! This month’s release is amazing and it is all about bringing the boldness of urban textures in the signature Hero Arts style and quality! Explore the beauty of painted decorative tiles, the intricacy of garden gates, and the dynamic silhouette of power lines with this month’s release. I am excited to be hopping this month, you will find all the details for the hop listed below. So let’s get started!
For my first project today I am using the new Hero Arts Card Kit of the Month! I love the kit this month and all the amazing goodies included in the kit! There are so many awesome possibilities with this kit!
I started by working with the City Stencil included in the kit. I started by layering one of the city scenes onto Dove White Card Stock. I ink blended the top city scene using 2 colors of Hero Arts Core Ink: Wet Cement and Fawn. I used the Fawn ink around the top section of the city line. I then ink blended another city scene below using Core Ink in Charcoal and Pitch Black. The Pitch Black ink was used around the top section of the city line. Once the ink blending was complete, I used the coordinating fall Out City Skyline stencils to apply Hero Wax in Gold for the Windows. I used a palette knife to apply the Hero wax. I intentionally did not add the gold wax to all the windows to show some lights being on and some being off.
Once the gold wax was dry, I fussy cut the city line. Once the areas was fussy cut, I trimmed the panel down using my paper trimmer to prepare this section for my card base. Next I added foam tape behind the city line and set it aside. I then used another piece of Dove White Card stock trimmed to the dimensions I needed for my card panel. I then ink blended the nigh skyline using Core Inks in: Ultra Pink, Amethyst, and Nautical ink. I repeated the ink blending two times to ensure I had an even blend, as well as the intensity I was looking for.
Next I added stars to my sky using Hero Arts White Shimmer Mist. I added the spray to my work surface and then picked up color using my paintbrush. I then added the shimmer mist splatters to my background! Once everything was dry, I stamped the birds in the sky using Hero Arts Onyx Pigment ink. I then used Dove White card stock to stamp my sentiment and heat embossed the sentiment using clear embossing powder.
I completed my card by adhering everything to a top folding card base using Hero Arts precision glue. I had a lot of fun working with his month’s kit! I know you will love it!!!!
For my next project I am using the new Clear Set and Dies for June, it is called Flappy Mail! I had a lot of fun putting this card together as well! I started by stamping the images from the set onto Hero Arts watercolor paper. I stamped the images using Hero Arts Onyx Pigment Ink. I heat set the images using clear embossing powder. I watercolored all of the images using Hero Arts Liquid watercolors. I used the following colors: Antique Brown, Indigo, Coffee, Jungle Mist, and Leaf. When I watercolor I start with my lightest layer and continue to add colors when my previous layer is dry. I work from lightest to darkest. Once all the coloring was complete, I added some more details using colored pencils. I then die cut the images using the coordinating dies. I set these aside.
Next I started to work on my background. I started with a piece of watercolor paper and 2 colors of Reactive Inks: Root Beer and Splash. I add the ink by smooshing the ink pad directly to my work surface. I then spritz the ink with water and “smoosh” the paper into the ink. I then dry the ink with my heat tool and spritz with water and pick up the color with a paper towel. I continue to repeat this process with each color and until I have the color and texture I am looking for. Once the panel dried, I stamped on the bottom section of the panel using Black Onyx Pigment ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.
Next I trimmed my reactive ink background, as well as a piece of Sand Cardstock using Nesting Rectangle Dies. I added Espresso Ink to the edges of both panels. Next I used the Looking Glass Fine Arts Frame and die cut this using Sand cardstock. I added Espresso and Caramel Ink to the die cut frame, as well as Hero Wax in Black. I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set onto Sand cardstock and distressed the edges after it was die cut with a coordinating die.
I completed the card by adhering both background panels onto a top folding card base. I then adhered all the other elements on the card front using both Precision Glue, as well as foam tape. I had so much fun working with the clear stamp and die set! I can’t wait to see what you create!!!!!
