Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be back today joining the team over at Simon Says Stamp for their Monday Challenge! This week the theme is Holiday Cheer and we are featuring Tim Holtz! I love holiday time and am truly inspired by the magic of the holidays! I had a lot of fun with this week’s theme and I know you will too! We can’t wait to see your take on this week’s theme!
For today’s project I started with the beautiful Festive Bouquet dies. I love holiday time and these Poinsettia’s are the perfect holiday touch paired with the Tree Rings folder! So let’s get started! I started with Canson Water Color Paper. I created 2 panels, one with red tones and the other with green tones. I have all the colors I used listed below. For each panel I followed the same procress by adding inks/sprays, drying with my heat tool, then adding water droplets and picking up the color with a paper towel. I repeated the process until each panel had the colors and texture I was looking for.
Next I die cut the Poinsettia, leaves, evergreen, and berries using the Festive Bouquet dies. Once everything was die cut I added a bit more texture to various sections of the flower and leaves using a finger dauber and various shades of dye inks. I then adhered the layers together with liquid glue and set them aside.
Next I created the background for my Poinsettia and leaves. I used the Tree Rings embossing folder. I love this embossing folder so much, the details and textures are simply AMAZING! I did create this background a little while back and had it in my stash, unfortunately I didn’t write down the colors I used. I truly apologize. It was a mix of Distress Oxide Sprays, Spray Stains, as well as Distress Mica Stain. I trimmed the panel down. Then I added a bit more texture to the card panel by distressing the edges with my distress tool, then applied Archival ink with a dauber to darken the edges.
To complete my card I chose a layout for the Poinsettia, leaves, greenery, and berries. I carefully adhered everything using a combination of liquid glue and foam adhesive. I then chose a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Idea-Ology collection – Christmas Noel. I had so much fun putting this together!
Thank you so much to the Simon Says Stamp team for having me guest this month on the Monday Challenge blog! I am super excited to be here and for this month’s amazing theme’s and projects! I will be back next week for more crafty inspiration!
