Hello Crafty Friends – I am super excited to be back today to kick off an awesome month with Simon Says Stamp – it is DieCember! I love this month and the new release over at Simon is truly beautiful and I know you will love it too! You can see all of the new release here – it’s AMAZING!!!!! For my first project I am using 2 new items from this release Snowflake Curl and Pawsitively Velvet in Shades of Blue! So let’s get started!
My first project features the beautiful Snowflake Curl die. This die has so many possibilities and I have seen some amazing inspiration already from my fellow teammates! I created a holiday tag with this die and had a lot of fun! I started by die cutting the snowflake curl die using white card stock. I die cut this 3 times from white, then 1 time using the new Pawsitively Velvet in Shades of Blue! You have to check out this velvet – it’s AMAZING!!!!!! It has such a cool feel and adds so much interest to your projects! I then adhered the Snowflake Curl layers together using liquid glue.
Once it was together I wanted to try heat embossing on top of the velvet to add a bit more texture. I was super excited when it worked! Next I chose my background for my Snowflake Curl. Over the weekend I had fun using my gelli plate and made a whole bunch of backgrounds! I chose one of the backgrounds for my tag. I die cut the tag shape using my Sizzix/Tim Holtz tag die set. I die cut an extra tag using plain white card stock to make the tag thicker/sturdier. I adhered them together with liquid glue.
Next I ran the tag shape through my die cutting machine with the Filigree Snowflakes embossing folder. To add a bit more texture and visual interest to the dry embossed snowflakes I added various Distress Mica Crayons and added a bit of distress oxide ink as well. To apply the crayons I did a combination of directly applying them to the tag and rubbing it with my finger, as well as adding it to my finger, then applying it to the paper.
I shared above that I created a bunch of gelli prints this past weekend. When printing I have deli paper to the side of my gelli print, this is where I placed the “extra” paint. I love having the deli paper to add to projects for extra texture and detail. I chose one with similar colors and ripped the paper. I then adhered this to the middle of the tag! I think it adds a fun texture to a project!
Next I applied Distress Micro Glaze to my tag with a blending tool. Once dry I added splatters to the tag background. I then added a bit of distress ink to the tag edge for added texture. I adhered the Snowflake Curl and chose a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp sentiment panels! I just love these! I tied twine and this completes today’s project!
