Hi Crafty friends and happy Friday! I hope you had a great week! I can’t believe it is the end of July already, summer is going by so quickly! Its a cool day here in NY, almost feels like a fall day! I am hoping for some more sunshine soon!
I am super excited about all the beautiful July releases over at Spellbinders! They are all truly amazing! I know you will love them! You can see the July collection here. For today’s card I am using the new Kaleidoscope Argyle Etched Die. I love this new die as a part of the Spellbinders slimline collection! It is so beautiful and can be used for not only holiday cards, but all year long! So let’s get started!
For today’s card I started by doing all my die cutting first for each piece of the die. This collection has the outer argyle die, which I cut using Neenah 80lb card stock. I cut the argyle die 6 times total to create a layered look with a bit more dimension. I then cut the inner diamond shapes using 3 colors of card stock. For today’s project I used the Sherbet paper pad, from Scrapbook.com, as well as a holographic color card stock. I die cut all the diamond shapes out of the 3 colors. I enjoy this process and find it works the best for me! Once everything was die cut, I then glued all the diamond shapes together. The top outer layer is pink, middle is holographic, bottom layer is a teal color. Underneath the teal color is a white layer as well.
I wanted to add a bit of interest to my background behind the argyle. I chose the Plaid Company embossing folder to create the texture on my slimline base. This is an A2 size folder, however you can still use this on a slimline card. I ran it through my platinum machine using Neenah card stock, I was careful to only run it through most of the way, not until the end otherwise you will have that harsh line in your project. I then took it out, flipped the paper and slid the paper until it “locked” into my folder. I then ran it through one more time following the same process. I then started to build my background on top of the plaid base. I glued the argyle die cuts, then the diamond shapes.
To complete my card I chose 2 sentiments from Holiday Sentiments Series 2 Glimmer. I used my glimmer system, along with some silver foil. Once these were complete I die cut these using the coordinating die included in the sentiments kit. I then adhered these using glue and foam tape. I adhered my card to a blue slimline base and my holiday card was complete!
I had so much fun with this new kit and just love this set! I hope you enjoyed this card!
