Hello Friends Today’s project is all about color and texture! Today I am using the beautiful Better with Friends stamp set from Unity Stamp Company! So let’s get started!
I started by creating 2 backgrounds using Lindy’s Magical Powders. I used 2 different sets: Natalie May’s and the Mountain Meadows Collection. I love creating inky backgrounds with lots of texture. For my backgrounds, I used Mixed Media cardstock. I placed the Lindy’s powder directly on my work surface, then I added water to the powder, & mixed it together. I then “smoosh” the paper onto my work surface. I then dry the paper with my heat tool, spritz water droplets onto the paper, and pick up the color with a paper towel. I then repeat this process several times with new colors, until I have the color and texture I am looking for. I encourage you to look in your stash to create your backgrounds!
I then stamped the flower onto the card panel from the Better with Friends stamp set using Archival Ink. I stamped a second flower onto the second panel I created (I will use this flower a bit later). Next I added texture to the large panel using crackle texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil. Once the paste was dry, I added more texture to the panel using Distress Crayons on the raised areas with the crackle paste, as well as a paper glaze. I then added stamping to the background panel using a stamp from the Better with Friends stamp set. I stamp the text along various sections of the panel using archival ink.
Next I distressed the edges of the card panel using my distress tool and inked the edges using Distress Ink. I then added splatters to the card panel and set it aside. Next I fussy cut the second floral I stamped. I fussy cut just the floral section and put the stem aside. I added a bit of texture to each flower using Distress Embossing Glaze and embossing ink. I then added foam tape to the back of each flower.
I then die cut 3 butterflies using the left over inky background. I then adhered the fussy cut flowers to the card panel placing them directly on top of the flower on the card panel. I then adhered the butterflies to the card panel. I completed the card with a sentiment strip from Unity, as well as a small piece of cheesecloth. I added a few circles to the panel for added interest. I drew these using a stencil and a marker. I adhered everything to a top folding card panel.
I had a lot of fun creating today’s card! Thank you so much for stopping by today! I will be back next week with more Mixed Media fun!
