Hello Crafty friends I am so excited to join Hero Arts this month for their release of the February Hero Arts 2024 My Monthly Hero Kit and add-on release! This month’s release is amazing and it is all about peace and friendship! I am excited to be hopping this month, you will find all the details for the hop listed below. So let’s get started! For my first card I am sharing inspiration using the February My Monthly Premium Kit. I fell in love with these floral lavender images and created a couple of Artist Trading cards, so let’s get started!
I started by stamping the Lavender stamp using Hero Hues Onyx Pigment ink onto Luxe white watercolor paper. I then heat set the image using clear embossing powder. I colored the images using Reactive Inks in the color Thistle. I colored them by applying ink to my work surface and smooshing the stamped image into the color. I allowed the image to dry, then die cut the floral using the coordinating dies included in the kit. I set these aside. Next I created 2 small tags for the lavender using the tag dies in the kit, aren’t these the sweetest? I die cut the tags using Passion Flower Cardstock. I then ink blended each tag using Orchid and Grape Juice Hero Hues Core Inks. Next I stamped the bow and sentiments from the kit onto Dove White cardstock. The bow was stamped using the Unicorn Ink cube from the kit and heat set using white embossing powder, then die cut with coordinating die. I added color to the edges of the tag die, lavender, bow, and sentiment using Caramel and Espresso ink. I also stamped the butterfly from the kit and die cut using the coordinating die. The butterflies were colored using Royal Purple and Gold Two Tone Spray. These elements were all die cut using my Hero Arts Compact Cutter. I set all the elements aside to work on my background.
I created the background using Luxe White watercolor paper and Reactive Inks in: Thistle and Fog. I created an ink smooshed background using the Reactive Inks. These inks are truly beautiful and I love the colors and how they react to water! I place the ink directly to my work surface, add water, then smoosh the paper into the water. I then dry with my heat tool, add water droplets, then pick up color with a paper towel. I repeat this process several times until I have the color and texture I am looking for.
Once all the inking was complete I trimmed the panel down using my trimmer to ATC size (2.5 x 2.5). I then used the stencil from the Premium Kit with Hero Arts Glitter Paste. I allowed the paste to dry, then applied Hero Hues Core Inks in Caramel and Espresso for a vintage touch. I then adhered all the elements together using Hero Arts Precison Glue. The purple tags are adhered with foam tape. I completed the ATC’s with the twine included in the kit. I also added detail to the bow using the Copper Laquer Pen. This kit is truly beautiful and has so many possibilities for projects year round!
For my next project I am using the amazing new Words of Peace Bold Print stamp! This background is so cool and has so much texture within the text print! It will be a favorite of mine for upcoming projects! I started by creating an inky background using watercolor paper and Reactive Inks in: Fruit Punch, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, and Blue Raspberry. I shared my process above for ink smooshing backgrounds, I followed the same process here with these colors. Once my background was complete with color, I stamped the Words of Peace Bold Print in Random places along my background using Pitch Black Ink.
Next I used the new Peace Daisy Stencil by applying Core Inks (Tangerine, Bermuda, Dandelion) through the stencil in random areas using a blending brush. I then applied Hero Arts Glitter paste through the same areas of the stencil using my palette knife. I allowed the panel to completely dry. Once everything was dry I die cut a heart from the center of the panel using the Hero Arts Nesting Heart Dies. Next I stamped the Love is all you Need from the Peace and Love Bundle set onto Hero Arts Vellum using Hero Hues Onyx Pigment ink. I then heat set and embossed this with clear embossing powder. I die cut the heart using the coordinating die set.
I die cut 3 extra large hearts to adhere behind the center heart to create dimension, as well as the sentiment heart. I die cut these using Dove White cardstock and adhered them with Precision glue. I applied Hero wax in gold to the large center heart around the edge, as well as the A2 panel. I then trimmed the panel using Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle dies. I distressed the edges a bit more using Caramel and Espresso Core Ink. I then adhered the panel to an A2 card base, as well as the center heart using Precison Glue. I used a combination of glue and foam tape on the sentiment heart die cut. I added splatters using Gold and Pewter Glimmer Metallic ink, and added a few Hero Clear Hues enamel dots. This completes my projects for today! I had so much fun creating these! You will find all the Kit Information below, as well as all of the Add On goodies as well. The hop information is listed below!
