Hello Crafty friends I am so excited to join Hero Arts this month for their release of the Hero Arts August 2024 Card Kit of the Month, Monthly Minis, as well as Extraordinary Extras. This month’s release is amazing and it is all about the outdoors, leaves, as well as the jungle. I am excited to be hopping this month, you will find all the details for the hop listed below. So let’s get started!
For my first project today I am sharing 2 ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards) using the August Card Kit of the Month! I fell in love with this card kit and all the goodies included in the kit! I started with a piece of Luxe Watercolor paper and Reactive Inks to create an ink smooshed background. I start by placing the ink on my work surface, spritz the ink with water, move the color with my finger, then smoosh the paper in the ink. I dry with my heat tool, add water droplets, then pick up the color with a paper towel. I repeat this process until I have the color and texture I am looking for. I used the following colors: Blue Raspberry, Pool Party, Grape Slush, Purple Galaxy, and Root Beer. Did you see the kit includes 2 new Reactive Glitz pads? I do not have these yet and I can’t wait to try them! Once my background was complete, I allowed the panel to dry, then trimmed the panel down and set it aside.
While my background was drying, I die cut the leaves and flowers from the fancy dies in the kit using Luxe Watercolor paper. Next I added color to the leaves/flowers using Two Tone Sprays in: Bright Yellow and Copper, Spring Green and Gold, Fuchsia and Gold (flowers), and Ocean Blue and Gold. Once I was done adding color, I set them aside to dry. Once they were dry, I added Espresso Core Ink to the leaves for added texture.
Next I added the palm tree stencil (card kit) to each of my backgrounds using Core Ink in Deep Ocean. I applied the ink using a Hero Arts blending brush. Next I applied Hero Arts Glitter Paste over the palm tree for added shine and sparkle using a palette knife. I allowed the panel to dry, then added splatters using Metallic Gold and black ink. Next I applied Olive Wax to the edge of each ATC, as well as Espresso core ink.
I completed my ATC’s by adding twine to each piece, adhering the leaves/flowers, as well as sentiments from the kit. The sentiments were stamped onto Dove White cardstock with black ink, and die cut with the coordinating dies. I added Teal Hero Pearls to each floral for added interest as well!
For my 2nd project I am using a few goodies from the release, my card was inspired by the amazing new Leafy Background cling stamp! I started with a piece of White Ultra Smooth card stock and Core Inks (Lemon Yellow, Butter Bar, Papaya, Tangerine, Stone Wash, Nautical). I applied the inks to the background stamp one at a time, lightly misted with water, then used my brayer to soften the lines, stamped on the paper, and continued to repeat until I had the look I was going for.
I allowed the panel to dry, then trimmed the panel using a nesting rectangle die. I added interest to the background using Collage Background Transfers, as well as white ink and ink blending around the edges. Next I added core inks to my gelli plate in (Lemon Yellow, Butter Bar, Papaya, Tangerine, and Paradise). I applied the ink one color at a time on my gelli plate, lightly misted with water, laid the cardstock on top, and used my brayer. I continued to repeat with the colors on the gelli plate until I had the colors on my print I was looking for. I then die cut the Birds of Paradise Fancy Dies from the new release using my print. I also added Two Tone Sprays to the leaves for added shine (Bright Yellow and Copper, Spring Green and Gold, Red Shimmer).
Finally I started to create the base layer using Paradise Cardstock. I stamped the new leafy background onto the Paradise cardstock using Paradise ink. I then ink blended the edges using Caramel and Cup of Joe ink. I used a piece of left over gelli print from above and die cut the panel with the Nesting Postage Stamp dies. I added a piece of ephemera using the Vintage Map and Ledger stamp set. I adhered all the layers together using Precision Glue and completed the card with a Hello sentiment from the Jungle Serenity stamp set.
